Huon Valley Medal Meet 2024 – Report

Huon Valley Medal Meet 2024 – January 20th.

A slightly overcast and chilly morning saw 120 swimmers, representing 8 clubs, descend on the Huonville Swimming Pool for a favourite of the Tasmanian swimming calendar. Ages ranged from 5 – 67, with even three generations of the same family having a go at competing: Zara Taylor (13, HVA), Anita Reynolds (43, THV), and Anne Reynolds (66, THV). 11 Masters swimmers were in attendance, from both Huon Valley Aquatic and Hobart Dolphins. All involved gave it their all, and numerous PBs were set on the day.

As always, the novelty relay was the highlight of the event, with swimmers attempting legs involving balancing a cup on the head, noodle horses, and apple eating. Congratulations go to Friends for retaining the Huon Cup for their ‘courageous’ efforts in the highly competitive relay, Hobart Aquatic for remaining Club of the Meet, and to Mia Wurzer for Swimmer of the Meet.

Next year we hope to see a larger Masters contingent at the most relaxed and fun co-sanctioned meet in Tasmania 😉.

Thanks to all those who attended. Without you, this meet does not happen.

See you next year…

Reminder that our Major Raffle is still running, to be drawn at the end of March. There are over $2000 in prizes to be won, with all funds going toward the running of our club throughout the year. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5, and are available from the Huonville Swimming Pool, and the Port Huon Sports & Aquatic Centre, or can be arranged via DM with us on Facebook.
