Masters Swimming Tasmania is excited to confirm that we will be the host organisation of the swimming component of this year’s Tasmanian Masters Games.

While there are still a few more details to be sorted through here is a broad overview of plans at this stage (please note this is still in draft format).

  • The Games will be conducted from 5 – 14 October with most sports being hosted on Tasmania’s North West Coast. The swimming component will be held on 5 October at the Launceston Leisure and Aquatic Centre.
  • A limited program (consisting of 50s, 100s and 100 & 200IM) will be available, with a maximum of 5 events per swimmer, plus relays.
  • Start time: 11am (t.b.c.) with a projected finish time of no later than 5pm, to enable participants to travel to Devonport for the event Opening Ceremony on the evening of 5 October. There will be a 30-minute lunch break half-way through the program.
  • Results will be entered into the MSA results portal and so records up to and including National records will be available. As well, National rankings are available.
  • The Games fee covers medals, event promotion, the Opening & Closing Ceremonies, Welcome Bags, and assists with volunteers etc. It also covers participation in multiple sports and needs only to be paid once per participant.
  • There will be a sports fee payable to MST.
  • Masters age groups for both males and females will be used with the youngest age group 25-29years.
  • Medals will be awarded based on aggregate points for each age group, as per MST Championship events.

Please spread the word. This is a great opportunity for clubs to pick up new members – that is, non-members who might like to come along to the Games to try out swimming in friendly competition. Please reach out to triathletes, surf swimmers and casual swimmers you know and encourage them to give it a go.

We also welcome interstate visitors to participate and support the Games.
