2026 Oceans Treble Interim Report
What a massive weekend for Masters Swimming Tasmania members as the first two events of the Oceans Treble series delivered everything from “hold on tight” to “how good is this?”

Devonport’s ‘Pub2Club’ dished up seriously rough, churning conditions — the kind that test grit as much as fitness — before the scene flipped completely at Bridport’s ‘Swim the Pier’, with glassy water and postcard-perfect calm. Same swimmers. Very different oceans.
Masters swimmers were everywhere — all age groups, all distances — showing once again that open water courage has no age limit
While we await official results, we already know of age group wins going to Amanda Duggan, Jayde Richardson, Auro Almeida (THB) and Tony Forman (TAC) at Devonport — with Bridport honours to Tony Forman (TAC), Amanda Duggan and Megan Stronach (THB). Outstanding efforts across the board
Pictured are members from four MST clubs — Hobart Dolphins, Hobart Aquatic, Devonport Devils and Talays — who took on Devonport’s wild conditions and honestly deserve medals just for bravery. It was just as great to see Launceston Lemmings joining the party in Bridport the following day
With so many masters swimmers choosing the shorter-distance events, is it time to consider participation points to help boost club totals? Food for thought
And finally — huge thanks to Auro Almeida, who has stepped up as organiser/coordinator for the Oceans Treble. The surge in participation we’re seeing already is no accident — it’s the result of tireless club-connecting and enthusiasm. Legends make waves

Bring on the next stop in the Treble!
