2025 Oatlands Splash – REPORT

MST members gathered at the beautiful Oatlands Aquatic Centre for our annual Christmas Friendly Time Trial.
The Christmas cheer was overflowing!  What an afternoon of festive fun!
This was the fourth year that we ran this event.

A comment was overheard:- “This is getting better every year!”

 Poolside Bingo was a crazy new addition, with swimmers going to some crazy lengths
.      as taking on new strokes, showing off some epic dives,
.      and even sharing a few cracking Christmas jokes – just to score a bingo!
.     Victoria Wilson managed to win first prize.  Among other achievements she was heard
.     laughing while swimming doing a crawl/ backstroke combo in a freestyle event
.     and losing her tutu in another event.

 The Handicapped Relay was so well set that there was less than a body length between the first 4 teams.
.     The glory went to the mighty Hobart Dolphins, who stormed home to snatch victory from Talays by just microseconds.
 The Best Costume Competition:-  Huon Valley came up with the best club result with
.     Heidi van der Reest gaining the individual prize.
  Closest to Nominated Time in 50m Backstroke:- This was won by Lou Hill
.      who finished 0.02 seconds from his nominated time.

We all adjourned to the courtyard where Chef Ken was busy cooking a gourmet meal of sausages and onions on the BBQ.

Thanks to all the organisers, those who helped including the timekeepers and everyone who brought along such a wonderful selection of yummies to share,
and thanks also to the lifeguards at the Oatlands Aquatic Centre.
